Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya

Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya It's another month of Pass the Cook Book Club! This month is hosted by Kita from Pass the Sushi , and she chose the book Cooking Up a Storm: Recipes Lost and Found from The Times-Picayune of New Orleans . This is a special cook book because it's a collection of recipes that was put together after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 where not only did folks lose precious heirlooms, but they lost family recipes. Kita chose three wonderful recipes from this cook book: chicken and sausage jambalaya, crawfish in saffron cream, and bananas foster pie. I was torn between the pie and the jambalaya, but the jambalaya won in the end because I figured that it would be a great meal to make on a Sunday so that it would give us leftovers during the week. Because of work and school, it's not always easy for me to get a good meal on the table and this meal gave us plenty of leftovers! I do still want to make the pie in the future because it sounds wonderful! T

Momofuku Milk Bar Birthday Cake

Momofuku Milk Bar Birthday Cake Happy 2nd Birthday to Tortillas and Honey! Two years ago I decided to create my own food blog and enter the world of blogging! These past two years have been a tremendous experience-- I've grown so much as a blogger, writer, photographer, and as a person. I've also met some absolutely wonderful fellow bloggers who are supportive and creative and genius. I am so glad that I decided to partake in this adventure, and thank you for coming along with me on this little journey of mine! To celebrate, I am posting a perfect recipe to celebrate the blog's birthday-- Momofuku Milk Bar's Birthday Cake. This is one of my favorite cake recipes ever! I've only recently discovered the genius of Milk Bar creator Christina Tosi, but have been hearing about her and Milk Bar for years. I finally decided to just buy her cookbook, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cookbooks of all-time. Her recipes and desserts may seem a little intimid

Cranberry Apple Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Cranberry Apple Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwiches Today Aly from FudgingAhead is hosting a virtual baby shower for Joanna from Midwestern Bite ! Joanna is expecting a little girl, and Aly thoughtfully asked bloggers to take part in this baby shower for Joanna. Joanna's site represents Joanna... she writes about her life in the midwest, her family, crafts, and food. Over the holidays, Joanna posted an incredible recipe, an  Apple Cranberry Pie with Sweet Nut Topping . She was tweeting about one of her favorite recipes, which sounded amazing, and I asked her to post a blog post with the recipe. I made the pie last month, and it was truly amazing and all my family members who tried it kept going back for more. I was anticipating leftovers because my family is small, but there wasn't any more pie left to take home! This recipe quickly became a favorite of mine, which I plan on making again and again! This recipe here incorporates some of the main components of the wonderful

Peach Pie Tea Latte

Tea can be used in many diverse ways and this Peach Pie Tea Latte is special treat to share with your loved ones. This post was sponsored by Collective Bias® to help others learn the many uses of tea. There is something so very comforting about tea, and there's something about tea that makes you feel special, especially if it's in a fancy cup... and if there's milk and sugar! I went to Wal-mart earlier this week and picked up a package of Perfect Peach Tea by Bigelow that promises all the spices of a peach pie! Bigelow Tea is an American owned company that prides itself on family and providing quality to its customers. The company is family-owned, and all their teas are package in foil pouches to help preserves its freshness and flavor. One of my special treats to myself is a version of the London Fog Latte (which is earl grey tea, steamed milk, and vanilla syrup) called a Blueberry Muffin that uses a berry tea but made the same exact way.
